The two galleries got to know each other at the Art Antwerp fair, which has been taking place during the second week of December since 2021. Both galleries are run by a married couple, and the idea emerged to occupy each other’s gallery space for the duration of one exhibition.
The space of Hopstreet Gallery is located in Rivoli Brussels in the Sint Jorisstraat 109, 1050 Brussels. IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO will hold a large group exhibition to introduce its artists in Brussels. This exhibition will also be part of the 10th edition of the PhotoBrussels Festival, which will start as of 22 January.
Under the title ‘Land- & Bodyscapes’ IN-DEPENDANCE will show works by Thomas Vandenberghe (BE), Albarrán Cabrera (SP), Ingrid Dorner (FR), Anton Kusters (BE), Gert Motmans (BE), Daphne van de Velde (NL). We will also exhibit works by IBASHO-artists Sayuri Ichida (JP/UK) and Hideyuki Ishibashi (JP/FR) to show the communal aesthetics of the two galleries IN-DEPENDANCE and IBASHO. The choice for the theme of ‘Land- & Bodyscapes’ underscores this shared aesthetic aptly.
